Well, this "book" is so bad that I'm writing my first ever Amazon book review. But, I wish I could. This is, without question, one of the worst books I've ever *tried* to read. Let me put it another way: this book is an absolute stinker.
I might have to go for a drive just so I can throw this book out of the window of a speeding vehicle.I have read other Van Lustbader/Bourne books, and was hoping we would see some improvement over time, but as another reviewer has written below, the writing in this one is so bad, I feel almost personally insulted as a reader. To any Ludlum fans, this book is an insult to the Bourne series. Yeah, the part where "Moleface" has just said, "Time to die, Bastard." did it for me. Mr Van Lustbader - I'm sure your other books are great, but please do us all the courtesy of not writing any more books about Jason Bourne. Ugh. Unlike the author of "The Bourne Sanction", I do not pretend to be an author, so please excuse any errors I make forthwith. Here goes.
The characters are as shallow as can be, the plot is *incredibly* stupid, the dialogue AWFUL, there is no flow to the story, and the whole thing is an utter cliche (and I am less than 200 pages in). For Ludlum fans of any age, you have been well advised to steer clear of this one by a majority of reviewers here on Amazon. It is so bad that I can only assume Mr Van Lustbader's family are writing the good reviews here on Amazon.com. I paid $1 for it at the local Goodwill store, so unfortunately, I can't very well go in there and start yelling at them and demanding my money back.
ty,,book in great condition, love Robert Ludlumall pages there, great booki look for condition, fair price, 1st printing/editionpurchased from amazon.comtyvm Lauri
Too many details were entirely non-plausible. Too much suspension of disbelief was required, as I continually found that the main characters were doing and saying things that just didn't make sense. I stopped reading this after the 1st 150 pages. While the premise and overall plot were acceptable, the details of the story and especially the action sequences really left a lot to be desired.
Forget that the big secret turns on the architectural plans to one of the most familiar buildings in the U.S. Forget the nonsensical plot, characters dying for no good reason. Just horrible. You'll notice first that the writing is horrible. Forget that the women characters are drawn to seething psychopaths -- again for no reason you can discover. Forget that most of the fighting could have been averted by a couple of phone calls to the local police.
There were new characters constantly being introduced, it was fairly impossible to keep everyone straight. I was able to complete the book, but never felt as thought I had a good understanding of what was happening. "And so, I agree that I saw this book as a two star effort.
I've never read any of the Bourne books. The characters and the situation won't make much sense to you otherwise. I picked this book up because I've enjoyed all the Bourne movies.
I suspect that you will see this book as a one or two star effort. Two stars for the fact that I was able to complete the book and didn't simply give up on it. I was definitely a bit confused by the fact that Robert Ludlum's name is plastered across the top of the cover, but this book seems to have been written by someone else.
One of the other reviews here says:"If you do decide to read The Bourne Sanction, I strongly suggest that you read The Bourne Betrayal first.
